El precio de los antirretrovirales ha bajado entre el 10 y el 40% desde 2006, según un informe de la ONUCuatro millones de personas de países en países subdesarrollados y en vías de desarrollo estaban recibiendo tratamiento contra el sida a finales de 2008, según el último estudio realizado por Onusida, UNICEF y la Organización Mundial de la Salud. Esto supone un incremento de 36% de personas con tratamiento de antirretrovirales respecto a 2007.
